Hospice

The Kensington Hospice is a 19-bed palliative care home located in the heart of Toronto. Originally a 10-bed facility, our hospice recently expanded to accommodate and respond to the growing needs of the community we serve. The expansion makes Kensington Hospice the most comprehensive single-site hospice in downtown Toronto and one of the largest in Canada.

Over 1,200 individuals and their loved ones have received support and faced death with dignity at Kensington Hospice. One of the significant benefits of our hospice is the ability to improve end-of-life care with a personalized and holistic care model while providing an alternative to traditional hospital beds, offering more cost-effective and home-like settings.

In addition to the physical expansion, the Kensington Hospice offers diverse programming, such as additional palliative care services and clinical, spiritual, social, and emotional support for individuals and their families leading up to the end of life and creating more time for moments that matter.

Kensington Hospice, established in 2011, was created to offer individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their caregivers the freedom to make choices at the end-of-life stage. The primary aim of hospice palliative care is to alleviate suffering and enhance the quality of life for those living with, or dying from, advanced illnesses. By expanding palliative care services and providing enhanced support, Kensington Hospice has developed an impactful model of care that helps people in the community and preserves their dignity and autonomy.
